On Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 1:00 pm., historian and site interpreter Paul Andriscin offers an illustrated talk about the American Revolution happenings of 1777 at the Mount Independence State Historic Site in Orwell, Vermont.

What was going on outside of Mount Independence 240 years ago, as the British under Lt. Gen. John Burgoyne headed toward Saratoga, New York? Learn about the events on Long Island and New York City, and British Gen. William Howe’s effort to capture Philadelphia.  Did these factors lead to the failure of Burgoyne’s plan to split off New England from the rest of the United States?

The Mount Independence State Historic Site is one of the best preserved Revolutionary War archeological sites. It is located at 497 Mount Independence Road, six miles west of the intersections of Vermont Routes 22A and 73 near Orwell village, Vermont. Carefully follow the signs. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily through October 15.
