June Brown Bag History Lunch: Militia vs. Continentals

British regulars advance up Breed’s Hill against an army of American militia in this painting by Howard Pyle (1897).

Saturday, June 29 at noon

Join us for the second in our series of informal discussions about aspects of the Revolutionary War. We’ll be exploring the difference between the militia and the regular Continental army, and asking the question about how important and effect the militia was. Our first session was an enjoyable look at the causes of the Revolution and the events leading up to the outbreak of the war.

This series is conceived to help us begin the comemoration of the 250th anniversary of the war and the establishment of the United States of America, coming up next year and the year after, respectively.

These discussions are designed to be informal. They are led by knowledgable members of the Coalition community. All are invited. Bring a lunch. You can pipe up or just listen.

The event will begin at noon on June 29th at the Mount Independence State Historic Site visitor center. Regular admission rates apply. Coalition members enter free.
