Strong Ground

Mount Independence and the American Revolution

Extra, extra. Read all about it: Strong Ground earns Award of Excellence from the Vermont Historical Society.

The Mount Independence Coalition is proud to announce the publication of Strong Ground: Mount Independence and the American Revolution.

Available at area book stores and Vermont State Historic Sites.

This 112-page, full-color, richly illustrated history of Mount Independence is now available. Loaded with contemporary maps and paintings, modern photographs and maps, and original illustrations by noted artist Gary Zaboly, the book breathes history. Informative sidebars complement the dramatic narrative story of Mount Independence and its unique place among American Revolutionary War sites.

To celebrate the publication, the Coalition held a gala launch party Saturday, July 29. The weather was beautiful and the day was a big success.

“It is gratifying to see that Strong Ground has fulfilled the expectation for a definitive book on the signal role Mount Independence played in the American Revolution. The book is beautifully lade out — a lucid, comprehensive text; choice maps, site photos, portrait images; those illustrations by Gary Zaboly!”
