Hike Into History – August 4

Explore the history of Mount Independence with Steve Zeoli, president of the Mount Independence Coalition. Walk the beautiful trails, see what evidence remains of the 1776-77 American army occupation of the Mount. Learn about the two controversial decisions that put Mount Independence at the center of American victory or defeat in the early years of the war.

The walk will begin on the easy Baldwin Trail, then will continue out to the point before returning to the visitor center. Allow for three hours. Those who have less time will be able to peel back to the visitor center part way through the hike.

Wear walking shoes and dress for the weather. Bring water.

Admission to the site is $5 for adults. Children under 15 are free. Coalition members enter for free. For more information call (802) 948-2000.
