Do you see interesting mushrooms in your travels and wish you knew more about what they are? Would you like to learn tips about how to more confidently identify wild mushrooms? Would you like to know more about the fascinating world of fungi in general? Join naturalist, mycologist, and professional photographer Meg Madden for a curiosity walk along the hiking trails of the Mount Independence Historic site. As a myco-educator Meg loves to share her knowledge of the natural world, particularly when it comes to all things fungi!
To reach the site, at the intersection of VT Routes 22A and 73 in Orwell, turn west on VT Route 73. Take the first left onto Mount Independence Road. Mount Independence Road will turn to gravel; follow the road to the left up a hill. The parking lot for the historic site is on the left at the top of the hill. Standard admission fees apply.

Middlebury VT native Meg Madden channels her life-long passion for art and nature into her colorful, textural, and highly detailed photographs of mushrooms and other fascinating organisms discovered on her hikes around Vermont.
