Mount Independence Open Again
We are happy to report that Mount Independence State Historic Site has reopened (as of Tuesday, August 1). The site is back to normal open hours and days.
Historic Sites currently closed
Vermont State Historic Sites are CLOSED until further notice due to the extreme weather and road closures. Please refer to Governor Scott’s State of Emergency declaration and the National Weather Service for complete forecasts:https://governor.vermont.gov/press-release/vermont-officials-prepare-flood-response-governor-scott-declares-state-emergency We will post here when we learn any additional news.

Working with site administrator Elsa Gilbertson, the Mount Independence Coalition applied for and received a grant from Lake Champlain Basin Program to fund the work done by the Lake Champlain Basin Program conservation laboratory in Ferrisburgh. Mount Independence is open for the season
Mount Independence State Historic Site in Orwell, Vermont, is now open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, until October 10th. Social distancing requirements will likely be in flux, but be prepared for limits to the number of people in the museum at one time and have a mask handy for now.
